24/7
Semester project 2021
The project 24/7 is a statement and revolt
against sexual harassment. In this work, the collection of photographs, detailed stories of
affected individuals, and posts from the Instagram accounts
@catcallsofaachen and
@catcallsofcologne
give an insight into the extent and consequences of sexual harassment. We must confront harassment
in the form of catcalling and assault. We must no longer silently accept that harassment is part of
our reality. We must perceive whistles, insults, stares and unwanted touching as a clear violation
of boundaries and defend ourselves accordingly! Therefore, the goal of the publication is to advance
the exchange about the topic and to make each other strong. You are not alone.
The project can also be found on the page Photography – 24/7.
The project was created as part of the photography course of the design department at the FH Aachen. At the end of each semester, there is usually an exhibition at the department. The last exhibition took place in January 2020 due to the pandemic. To avoid another end of semester without an exhibition, the 3rd and 5th semester photography courses organized a Corona-compliant photography exhibition together with the bachelor students of the winter semester 20/21, Professor Lorenz Gaiser and the student initiative "The Circle Works". We will present the results of the semester in the windows of vacant buildings from March 26-April 25, 2021. Additionally, all works can be found on the photobox100 website.
